If you’ve ever been to New England, you may be familiar with the old Yankee saying “If you don’t like the weather, wait a second, it’ll change.” While we are fortunate to enjoy the variety of the four seasons, it is winter that challenges our creativity in keeping snug and cozy.
I recently had the opportunity to review a version of what might possibility be the hottest item this year to help conserve on your heating bills this winter!
The Slanket is a hybrid cross between a blanket and a sleeved robe.

I often write my blog posts late in the evening after everyone has gone to sleep. We’ve been trying to conserve on our gas bills, and the thermostat is normally set lower at night. Our home was built in the 1940s and my computer desk is near a window. Although we do have thermopane windows it can get drafty. I wrapped up in the Slanket one night and tried to type. Since I’m petite, and the Slanket is bulky, I think it’s more suitable for using when trying to read or watch television. I tried walking in it, but because of it’s length, would have been better off wearing the Kids size to maneuver around in.

I bought a slanket a couple of months ago to donate to an assisted living facility for seniors and/or the disabled. I would love to bring them another one.
The color I would choose is navy blue, as the last one was burgundy.

My favorite color is castlerock and I would use it when I am reading in bed and playing with my laptop in bed, as I do this every night. Plus, my little pup will curl up against it too because he likes to hide under blankets.

My best friend (a college student) has been wanting a Slanket forever. It would help her survive the winter when she can’t afford to turn on the heat! She’s also probably moving north after she graduates and she’d definitely need it then. I’d love to get it in Ruby Wine because she goes to FSU so it has to be garnet!

I’d use this while sitting on the couch and watching TV/browsing the Internet/developing websites. Right now I put a blanket over me, tuck my legs under me (which makes them fall asleep and hurts my knees), and then pull my arms out of the blanket. This would be much simpler and would make getting up to take care of waking kids easier.
I like the Limoges (Blue) color.

I love the Ruby Wine one.
How I would use it? As a protective barrier against the icicles that form on my body because my *frugal* husband refuses to inch the thermostat up a few notches above sub-arctic zero. I swear he’d put a lock on the thermostat if he didn’t think I’d banish him to the couch for eternity. Local butchers ask if we could store some of their meat at our house. My husband spends most of the winter months grousing about the gas company sticking it to him. I’d be able to actually emerge from the cocoon of blankets I lay under on the couch and possibly get on the internet while I’m wearing my Slanket.
