As we bid Adieu to 2011 and welcome in the New Year of 2012, I’d like to remind my readers to try to incorporate some humor in your life.

Here I am, the blogging Baby Boomer Grandmom from New England. NEW ENGLAND!Land of four seasons – Spring, Summer, Fall and … Winter!Winter- which in most people’s minds, means, snow, cold, more snow, more cold; ice, more snow and ice, slush …. and real Christmas Trees! You get the picture. Having been married seemingly forever, we’ve always had a r.e.a.l. tree. Right – REAL, as in not artificial. Nope, not us.

Here are a few of the best unique Christmas decorations in New York City that I enjoyed this past weekend. It’s so much fun to visit NYC right after the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is lighted!

New England is home to the flagship store of Yankee Candle, in Deerfield, Massachusetts. A daytrip visit to Yankee Candle during the Christmas holiday season a magical experience and a special treat for both young and the young at heart!

Here are a few of the best new Holiday Appetizer recipes and DIY Christmas craft ideas I found on Pinterest that are certain to uplift your spirits and have you singing to the Christmas and Holiday songs! At the same time you’ll be able to find some festive and low cost holiday ideas for mom, dad, the kids or grandmom or granddad and family friends!

Usually I try to have my Christmas cards signed and ready to mail out by the first week of December so as to avoid the holiday rush at the Post Office. By ordering our family photo Christmas Cards online from Shutterfly I know I won’t have to worry about if they’ll arrive in time to send out!

Halloween is right around the corner! Check out the all new Halloween Costumes! The Jim Henson Company also has all the right ingredients for a spooky fun holiday! Get ready for the festivities to begin in October with an all New Episodes from Dinosaur Train and Sid the Science Kid scheduled to air on PBS Kids.

You can certainly tell that it’s Autmn in New England now! Besides the wonderful scent of apple pies baking, smoke rising from the woodburning stoves and the changing of the leaves, leaf peeping season brings local and county agricultural fairs! Today we took the grandchildren and went to the Durham Fair!

This is a fun and easy Halloween craft project for kids that you may want to break up across a couple of days, so be sure to start a few days before the big night. Mom, Dad, Grandmom and Grandpa can join in the fun as well and make a Halloween wreath of your own too!

Using your pictures to put together a photobook is a creative way to display your pictures, while spending family time together. I use Shutterfly to create my photobooks. At Shutterfly you create premium quality photo books in a mere matter of minutes.
