As we bid Adieu to 2011 and welcome in the New Year of 2012, I’d like to remind my readers to try to incorporate some humor in your life.

Here are a few of the best unique Christmas decorations in New York City that I enjoyed this past weekend. It’s so much fun to visit NYC right after the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is lighted!

New England is home to the flagship store of Yankee Candle, in Deerfield, Massachusetts. A daytrip visit to Yankee Candle during the Christmas holiday season a magical experience and a special treat for both young and the young at heart!

New England has some beautiful historical properties dating back to Colonial times. Perhaps Brownstones are best associated with Boston’s Back Bay. Hartford, Connecticut also has many beautiful examples of Victorian architecture.

Scion from the original historic Charter Oak tree in Bushnell Park planted in 1871 by the Connecticut Governor’s Foot Guard in Hartford, Connecticut.

My granddaughter was born in late October so celebrating her 5th Birthday by having her Birthday Party during the Riverview Farms Fall Festival in CT was an excellent opportunity to not only celebrate with her school friends, but to enjoy all the Autumn festivities and experiences that the farm had to offer.

Welcome to New England, if you don’t like the weather, wait a minute and it will change. The bizarre surprise nor’easter Storm Alfred that blew into Connecticut in October before Halloween will most likely cause more tree damage than Hurricane Irene did in August.

Usually I try to have my Christmas cards signed and ready to mail out by the first week of December so as to avoid the holiday rush at the Post Office. By ordering our family photo Christmas Cards online from Shutterfly I know I won’t have to worry about if they’ll arrive in time to send out!

You can certainly tell that it’s Autmn in New England now! Besides the wonderful scent of apple pies baking, smoke rising from the woodburning stoves and the changing of the leaves, leaf peeping season brings local and county agricultural fairs! Today we took the grandchildren and went to the Durham Fair!

Where did summer go so quickly? We spent a magnificent September Labor Day Weekend 2011 with the grandchildren celebrating Farm Day at the Fish Family Farm. There were plenty of fun things to do, all for the benefit of the Lutz Children’s Museum in Connecticut.
