Connecticut River Back Roads – Essex Connecticut

Where the Eagles Soar

During the winter months you can often see Eagles soaring over the Connecticut River. Depending on how cold it gets, the river will ice up.

Connecticut River Back Roads

There’s many country back roads that parallel the river from Essex to Saybrook, and over the years, we’ve traversed them all four seasons to see the beautiful views here in Connecticut!  You’re also able to see some beautiful estates during the winter, since the leaves on the trees are gone!

This photo was taken along one such road in Essex.

The Connecticut River can be very beautiful! My dad’s family farm and where my Dad lives (pictured in my WW post this week) lives right next to it on a main route in Vermont. Beautiful!

Hi Cindi, Sorry I haven’t visited in a while, I’ve been having trouble getting on your site.
Glad I could get back here… CT looks just like I remember in the winter: COLD!!
We are having some cold weather for US here in Florida, we even went down to 38 degrees one night. I want my sunny, warm weather back.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and a happy, healthy 2010!
