My, My, this Election is certainly polarizing people across the USA. Now, good little New England gal that I am ~ I was always taught growing up that it’s not polite to talk politics nor religion. Well, having gone to college in the early ’70s ~ it was kinda hard to avoid all the protesting that was going on at campuses all across the USA over the politics back then. I have several pictures of me with my college roomie & friends with an American Flag, flashing the Peace Sign & all. I’ve been silent on certain issues for what is it now ~ over 30 years? But not this year. I’ve found my voice again. OK ~ so you obviously have seen my last few posts. Apparently one of my best-online business friends who coached me on anything and everything eBay, was so terribly offended that without warning, she stopped following me on Twitter. Hmm. That was a clue that something might be up. Offended? I actually think it was more like “guilt by association” that she was worried about. Then I found out that all my banners had been removed from her sites, and my blog comments had been removed as well. So I sent her an email. Needless to say, we live in different areas of the country. I should have known better. Umm, I don’t think my posts bordered on ‘hateful’ in comparison to some of the other blogs that are out there. Snarky maybe, but not hateful. Just was voicing my opinion in my own Snarky way about how I believe, and will continue to believe, that Sarah Palin is not a good example for our daughters to follow. So go ahead, former BFF ~ take down my banners; censor my blog comments; unfollow me from Twitter; remove me from your Facebook friends ~ all without the decency of e-mailing me first. And to think of all that I’ve done for you. Especially since you were the first one to ask me to Stumble that post of yours on Sarah Palin. Guess you just showed your true colors. You’re lucky I’m not outing you by saying who you are ~ you know very well that my Disclaimer in my Musings blog indicates I could very well do that. But I’m not THAT hateful, am I? Am I?
Also, your e-mail asking me to “Stumble” your Sarah Palin post was a setup. I finally figured this out. Clever.
And since you’re such a voracious reader, I wonder where you find the time to police each & every blog post of the people you follow. Hypocrite.

I’m so sorry that you lost a friend over this. I don’t understand it. Just because you disagree with someone on something, doesn’t mean that you can’t like each other in other ways! I’ve seen this happen a lot over this election, it just seems sad that some people have to deal with differing views in this way.

awwww… so sorry to hear that.
But at least you know she’s not worth to be your friend.

I cannot stand it when grown women act like junior high school bitches. EMBRACE ADULTHOOD, pick up the phone, and have a grown-up discussion with someone if you have a problem with them. I swear, the internet has spawned a crazy strain of passive aggressiveness I can’t even imagine encountering in real life.
Chalk it up to a learning experience, I guess?

It’s a shame that some people only want to hear your opinion if it’s the same as theirs. Disagreeing about politics should not nullify a friendship created outside of that forum. It seems silly that she would just shut you out like that, when you have every right to express yourself.

I’m sorry to hear that but seriously what a joke your “friend” is. You are better off without her!

Sorry to hear about your friends. Disagreeing about the best candidate should not ruin friendships. I follow some people on Twitter who definitely have different opinions than me. I like their point of view because it gives me something to think about, even if I disagree.

WOW. That is crazy!! So sorry to hear that. I like following people that have different opinions, and I like engaging in lively discussion about the issues. Isn’t that what people do to help broaden perspective and gain insight we wouldn’t get just by surrounding ourselves with people who think the same? That would just be too boooooring! Ugh. You roar on, sister. I’ll always listen (and follow!)
