Woman Speaker at Podium
Over the course of my blogging career I’ve met so many talented, wonderful bloggers. I’ve met these women in various blog networks such as Blogcatalog; business and mom forums; through Entrecard dropping, Squidoo, eHow; and most recently through Twitter.
In the past, I’ve invited people to Guest Post on Moomettesgram’s Musings. I guest blog and contribute articles myself to Frugal WAHM Product Reviews, and Roxy’s Best of Hartford (CT).
I’ve decided that in 2009, I will again be inviting bloggers and writers to share their ideas and experiences with my readers who are interested in Working from Home. It’s always nice to get a new, fresh perspective on the latest developments. I’ve placed a tab at the top where all my Guest Blogger Posts will be able to be found quickly.
You may have seen Guest Bloggers posting on other blogs that you may often frequent. Guest experts are people who can provide relevant information to your readers in the form of guest posts. These are people who somehow tie in with your blog’s topic.
For instance, if you own an Internet marketing blog you might consider approaching people from those areas about submitting guest posts or becoming a regular guest expert on your blog.
Other areas where Guest Bloggers provide relevant information are:
- Social Media Experts
- Outsourcing Experts
- Web Design Experts
- Technical Experts
- Working from Home Experts
- Press Release Experts
- Affiliate Marketing Experts
It’s easy to see the vast amount of topics people are blogging about today. With the demise of print newspapers and columnists, bloggers will be filling a necessary void, and the list could grow expotentially.
Once you invite someone to be a guest blogger on your blog, you could set them up with their own login information or have them submit their posts directly to you so you can post them yourself.
Reward their efforts and give back something in return, as most guest bloggers aren’t paid for their posts. Oftentimes a Bio as well as a link back to the guest experts’ site and possibly allowing them to promote their own products or affiliates products within their post is all that’s needed.
Consequently, with the growth in popularity of guest bloggers, it’s becoming more difficult to find people who will commit. If they’re good at what they do, they’ll be in demand and blogging on other sites as well as your own. Try to sweeten the pot a little to get them to stick around and continue posting.
There’s one more thing to keep in mind about guest bloggers that you may find helpful. If you know people who are just starting out they might be more receptive to signing on as a guest blogger than established bloggers or business owners. However, if you aren’t ranking extremely high in the search engines, your traffic numbers aren’t all that great or your blog ranking isn’t as high as you’d like it to be yet, don’t despair. Many times it takes some time to become established, yet by adding all of this great content and implementing some new changes, you’ll be there before can say “I’m on Page 1 of Google!
If you have a topic of interest that you’d like to share and be a Guest Blogger on Moomettesgram’s Musings, please contact me (see Contact tab above).

Great post Cindi, lots of good information. A trend I have noticed lately is that some of the blogs I have been reading for a while (not in the WAHM market) are now filled ONLY with guest bloggers, the original bloggers NEVER post anymore. I like to read guest bloggers but I usually subscribe to a feed to read what the main blogger has to say.

Hi Christie ~
Yes, the ezine style blog is very popular and oftentimes produced by contributing writers. I still think that a first-person voice blog is beneficial. Everyone has a different experience to share and this is just another way of getting the word out!
My next guest poster will be discussing Squidoo, I hope you’ll visit to see what she has to say!

It is also important that a clear set of guidelines are set to avoid unnecessary confusion and disappointment.
