As a Baby Boomer, I have had to play catch-up in the technology field. I grew up long before the age of many of the following as young people today know them: calculators, computers, cell phones, push button phones, remote TV controls, microwaves, and more!

Hard to believe? My oldest darling daughter once asked my husband, “Dad, did you and your brother every fight over the remote controle?” My naïve little one.

I learned much of the technological skills that so many take for granted today at my full-time job. Blogging, HTML and other skills I’ve picked up on my own, the hard way. I’ve done this in order to prepare for retirement, and a second career.

But there’s an easier way to pick up the skills you need to succeed in a new career, and that is through Cisco certification.

You can increase your chances for gainful employment, career growth, success and a high paying job by becoming IT Certified in fields such as Routing & Switching, Design, Security, Storage Networking, Voice and Wireless.

Many types of Certifications are available. Entry and Associate Level Certification can lead to professions such as Network Administrator, Network Engineer and Network Analyst. Professional Level Certifications may lead to careers including Senior Network Engineer, Project Manager and IT Manager.

It’s always a good idea to have a back up Plan B in place given the state of the economy today. The Internet is an evolving technological force. There are many options available to continue learning online.

I’m a huge advocate of online education. It’s your future. What are you waiting for?
