I went to the grocery store last night to pick up a few staples and was SHOCKED at the prices. It looks like the gas prices have finally caught up with the food prices. I'm very worried. Things are not looking good at all.

I agree with you that things are bad right now and only look like they are going to get worse. I find it hard to believe that there is anyone out there who doesn\'t think that there is something wrong with the economy.

Earlier tonight I was discussing the gas situation with my mom, brother, and his wife and said that I was quite surprised that no one seemed to be protesting the high cost of gas or were taking any sort of measures, like car-pooling, to help save gas. Either people don\'t believe that this is a problem or they are living in a dream world. If it\'s a dream world, I hate to think how they are going to feel when they wake up to reality and realize that it is bad ... very, very bad.

Cindi - THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I am SO HAPPY to see someone else who agrees with me here.

I graduated from high school in 1980 so I am, technically at least, a boomer as well. When I graduated there were jobs, the economy was booming, the world was my oyster. If you wanted to do it, by God, you had the opportunity to do it.

Fast-forward 28 years. My son just graduated from HS. He hasn't even been able to find a job at McDonalds (he isn't doing college til Jan). There are too many "adults" who are working in what are typically the "teen" jobs because they've either been downsized from their regular jobs or they need a second job to pay the bills.

This economy is frightening. My dad owns a little piece of land with a mobile home on it. He is quite elderly but has made it plain that he is leaving that land and trailer to my sisters and me because he foresees that one day we might need to have a place, already paid for, where we can more or less live off the land... and this man lived through the depression, a world war and more...

Sorry to go on so long on your comments. This one just got to me.
