I doont think any of us are who we were 'back then' although I do know some adults who keep trying to be children of the 70s and 80s. I was a teen in the 70's (here BTW the law changed in 1979 so I could drink at 18 & was allowed to even after the law changed to 21) For awhile in the 70s & early 80s I was a 'wild child' taking me where the wind blew me.
In the 80s I settled down- and now, well now I am middle aged.
It's funny though isn't it... you sit and feel sometimes if you're the same, and look in the mirror and an old woman stares back. Sometimes you dont even recognize her :)

I got married WAY too young the FIRST time to a man who was an emotional abuser (just like my father - who was more than emotionally abusive)... and had two kids early.... I finally got my "stuff" together with help from a wonderful friend and a terrific counselor and got out. Then I found the most wonderful man in the world (no offense to anyone else's significant other) and have been married 12+ years very happily. So absolutely I am NOT the same person I was back them.... I am so much a better person, and my children are so much the better for my change.

I love that post! I think it is so fun to see how fashion changes, as well as hear about how peoples lives have changed. I have been married 10 years, but had my first baby 10 months after we were married. He and I dated for 10 years on and off before that...so I am I the person I was before kids? No way. I think differently now...I have children who come first in my life...I cannot always be thinking of myself - I do things for the "greater good" of the family.

We're in the same age group, so I can definitely relate, although I didn't get married until 1980 and I hated the bridesmaid dresses so much that I decided to have all groomsmen and no bridesmaids. I figured that I'd go out with a BANG...LOL.

It seems like a lifetime ago, doesn't it?

What a great story. I must say having kids has changed me a lot. Mostly I'm a lot more mellow and philosophical about things than I used to be.
