PakNak Decorative Accessories

It may be July, but Back-To-School shopping has begun in earnest!

Big Eye Dummies

Most children love animals and ‘Lil Moomette is no exception.

As a matter of fact, it’s ironic that my husband and I had a dog before we had our girls, and ‘Lil Moomette’s parents had a dog and a cat before ‘Lil Moomette was in the picture.

Actually, my husband and I were fur-free for awhile, but we now have a lazy, fat, almost 12-year old house-cat.  Whenever the grandkids come over, The Cat will tolerate the kiddos for only so long, and then retreats to someplace yonder.

All dogs are “Mutley,” (even though the poor dog is actually a purebread Black Lab!)

I’ve had the opportunity to review the new line of designer plush dolls aptly named “Big Eye Dummies.”  Milton The Cat is now part of our family.

Each doll comes with 2 sets of interchangeable eyes and mouths, along with its own back story. Made of fabric, the eyes and mouths come gently sewn down, but just need to be cut by an adult and the threads removed, at which point the mix ‘n match fun begins!

Big Eye Dummies are designed and created in New York City by David Lipson, a professional Animation Producer and Director.  David has worked on TV shows, including Word World (PBS), Lizzie McGuire (Disney Channel), Schoolhouse Rock (Disney), and shorts for Sesame Street (PBS).

Says David: “Big Eye Dummies offer several major innovations to the plush doll market, such as using high quality thread to hold them together instead of staples or nails. Another breakthrough was filling them with fluffy soft stuffing instead of rocks or bricks. Charming Son-in-Law’s birthday is coming up next month. I know just the perfect gift to give him. What makes it even more eventful, is that he’s a twin! I call his brother my “Bonus Son-in-Law!”

It’s so fun to watch the two of them when they get together. Charming SIL is originally from Vermont. The two brothers share many of the same interests, although not all.

Both are very much in to sports, and root for the same baseball team. As far as football goes, they’re complete opposites.

When Bonus comes to visit, he always brings his PS2 down. It’s so much fun to watch them both when they get together. I can just imagine what the game competition was like between them when they were younger!

What’s a party without food? Since it’s almost berry-picking season, here’s the perfect dish to bring for those who have a sweet tooth!

Name: Berry Crumble
Serving Size: 6
Categories: Cobbler/fruit

Ingredients:

3 cups raspberries or blueberries (or 1 package
12 or 16 oz frozen)
2 tbl lemon juice
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
2/3 cup quick cooking oats
1/3 cup margarine or butter, softened
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
whip cream or ice cream

Preparation:

Spread berries in square 8×8 pan. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Mix remaining ingredients except cream. Sprinkle over berries. Microwave uncovered on high 7 to 10 min. Let stand 10 min. Serve warm with cream. Or bake 375 30 minutes.
