Here are a few of the best unique Christmas decorations in New York City that I enjoyed this past weekend. It’s so much fun to visit NYC right after the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is lighted!

New England is home to the flagship store of Yankee Candle, in Deerfield, Massachusetts. A daytrip visit to Yankee Candle during the Christmas holiday season a magical experience and a special treat for both young and the young at heart!

New England has some beautiful historical properties dating back to Colonial times. Perhaps Brownstones are best associated with Boston’s Back Bay. Hartford, Connecticut also has many beautiful examples of Victorian architecture.

Grandpa and I were in charge of entertaining the little darlings for several hours, and thought that The Lutz Children’s Museum in Manchester, Connecticut would be an exciting educational daytrip to take the grandkids to see.

The majestic Bald Eagle has been returning from Canada and Maine to nest in the Connecticut River Valley. There are several opportunities for your family to enjoy and watch them on a daytrip to the historic town of Essex, Connecticut.

The King Tut Exhibit at the Discovery Center in New York City is wrapping up it’s final USA tour and leaving on January 2, 2011. If you don’t want to miss out on it, now is the perfect opportunity to take take the kids or grandkids over the holiday school vacation on a family day trip to see this magnificent exhibit!

A New England fall is always beautiful but October is particularly a special time of year to travel and plan New England vacations and visit. Residents and businesses alike in historic towns such as Wethersfield, CT take the opportunity to display their heritage and wares of the season.

The Litchfield Hills are the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and include portions of the Appalachian trail. You’ll be able to visit the beautiful covered bridges of Connecticut. It’s an easy one hour drive from Hartford, or 2 hour drive from New York City or Albany, New York.

One Sunday my husband and I were out for a daytrip drive and came across some tobacco farm barns. Connecticut is famously known for growing shade tobacco. I like the stark contrast of this red barn against the winter tree line.

The Boston Medical Center’s Halloween Town will be taking place this year on October 24 – 25 at the Seaport World Trade Center. The special guest is Dan Zanes.
