Virtual Assistant Specialties

As many of my readers know, I’m a Paralegal by profession, and have an established Virtual Assistant website at CAM Virtual Assistant Services. Many consider me a “professional student” as I’m always eager to learn new things.

This is the year for me to make a concerted effort to turn my Virtual Assistant website from a part-time venture, into a full-time job and enter the consulting field.

If you’ve been online for any length of time you’ve been exposed to a blog in one way or another. In fact you’re probably using one yourself and understand the importance of a small business utilizing a blog for several reasons such as increasing traffic, building a relationship with your readers, etc.

Not all people are as fortunate as those of us that know the importance of blogging. Speaking on a local level if you’ve ever had a conversation with a small business owner who has a brick and mortar business you have probably come to the conclusion that some of them don’t even know what a blog is!

That’s where a Virtual Assistant who loves WordPress, has a creative side and doesn’t mind working mostly behind the scenes can utilize their services by becoming a blog consultant. Then you can start evangelizing to small business owners in your local community not only the importance of blogging but the truth – blogging is smart for business.

So exactly what is a blog consultant?

It’s someone passionate about blogging. They love blogging in general but more importantly they understand the importance of blogging for small business owners and want to share that understanding with small business owners especially on the local level.

I’m getting so excited ~ my Virtual Assistant website is almost ready for my Grand Opening Launch.

As I’m a Paralegal by profession, I’m going to be specializing in VA legal work for attorneys.  I’ve been putting together a list of resources and sites to call upon depending on the nature of the work I’ll be doing.

One of the sites I’ve found is Sentry Link, which provides information on doing a Background Check.

A National Criminal Background Check is a comprehensive criminal check that shows any felonies, misdemeanors or sex offenses at the state and local levels.

In this day and age, many employers, investigators, parents, Boards of Education, school bus companies, and daycare centers rely on a criminal check for this type of information every day to enable them to make informed decisions.

Some family members who’ve been applying for teaching jobs or positions in the social services field have recently had to undergo such investigations.  Background and criminal checks are also used for investigating an individual applying to a quasi-public agency who is going to be responsible for transporting clients.  Oftentimes a special certification is required for a driver’s license.

A background criminal check is also common when appointments are made at the Federal or State level for positions such as Commissioners or Judges.

In a previous post I mentioned how I’m an infamous list maker. I think it’s safe to assume that most women probably are. I have all kinds of lists ~ for my cubicle job, household lists, my eBay store, online boutique Shoppes site ~ even a Bucket List!

My next top priority is to make an effort to get my Virtual Assistant business off and running, so I can retire from that day job that I keep talking about.

I have yet to order business cards for my VA business, but when I do, I’m going to order from Visa Print. They always have some sort of Special Sale going on. I’ve ordered the Free Business Cards for my Shoppes site there, as well as my eBay store. I like to include a business card when shipping out items from my eBay store, thanking my customers for their purchase, and reminding them to leave Feedback for me if they are pleased with the transaction. In the past, I also had cards made up for the various Affiliate companies that I once was an independent consultant for.

What I like about Vista Print is the fact that I can order cards from either their templates, or upload my own, like I did here.

I can even get note pads, address labels and car magnets with my company’s name! I did opt for the cute little gold-finish business card holders which fit easily in my purse.

I’ve been reading on many blogs that those who attended BlogHer ’08 were passing out business cards.

Many moms use them as “Mommy Cards” to give out to the moms of their childrens’ friends! What a cute idea!

When my own daughters were younger, I printed ‘babysitting’ business cards for them to hand out to put up on the refrigerator, and even passed out a few myself to co-workers who were in need of a sitter. Now you can have them made up for Free at Vista Print!

By the end of this year, I’m hoping to redesign my VA site and move it over to a new web hosting service. Before I make any permanent decisions, I’m going to check out Web Hosting Geeks.

I’ll be able to do some comparison shopping for services that best fit my hosting needs, and read up on all the reviews they offer. The way the economy is currently struggling, I’ll be looking for some sites that offer best budget hosting.

This site is definitely bookmarked for when I’m ready to choose!
