My father-in-law did a wonderful job for as long as he could. We lived 1,000 miles away so we weren't able to be there as much as we wanted. Looking back there are a few things we would have done differently. Right now my parents are still very independent, but I know there are some decisions that need to be made that I have to find a way to talk with them about. I also worry about my adult children and want to make sure we have things settled before any major life change puts them at the center of the decision making.
